
jeff prugh was born and raised in brandon, FL, a suburb east of tampa. at the age of 18, jeff traveled north to winston-salem, NC to be a scholar-athlete at wake forest university. a year later, he transfered to vanderbilt university in nashville, TN, where he continued playing division I soccer. thanks to a semester abroad in madrid, spain during the spring of 1999, jeff found a new passion: film. after graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in may 2000, he ventured west to los angeles, where in 2006, he graduated with an M.F.A. from the production program in the school of cinematic arts at the university of southern california. therein, jeff’s 14-minute thesis film, “thomas in bloom” played in over 25 film festivals world-wide and garnered multiple awards. in 2007, jeff shot and directed a behind-the-scenes doc for the film “childless”, starring barbara hershey and joe mantegna. in spring 2008, jeff produced a web series for sony digital entertainment, called “the hustler”, alongside mark feuerstein and sam friedlander, and also a short film, called “moustachette”, directed by and starring patrick stump of fall out boy. currently, jeff is in preproduction on a feature-length documentary and in post production on 2 independent films he produced and directed: “swing” and “pocket full of gold”. he has written a handful of scripts in hopes of developing each in the near future, perhaps under his production company, stepoff grandpa productions. in his free time, jeff paints, plays soccer, and enjoys quality time with his golden retriever. he presently resides in hermosa beach, CA.
